Gift Cards Help Taos Families Meet Essential Winter Needs

  • Local Champion: DreamTree Project, Inc.
  • Date Funded: November 26, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $4,500

Youth and families participating in DreamTree’s Emergency Shelter and Transitional Living Program often lack the financial resources to meet essential winter needs—like warm clothing, groceries, and hygiene products—straining their stability and well-being during the coldest months.

To help address this gap, a DreamTree team member reached out to LOR with a simple solution: provide gift cards that offer families the choice and flexibility to meet their most urgent needs.

With support from LOR, DreamTree will purchase 45 gift cards to serve 10 youth in the Emergency Shelter and 35 adults, parents, and young adults in the Transitional Living Program. Case managers will distribute the cards directly to participants, allowing families to purchase the essentials most relevant to their circumstances while preserving dignity and autonomy. This time-sensitive support will complement existing case management services and help participants stretch limited resources and maintain stability during the financially challenging winter months.
