Gear on the Gridiron: Lander Youth Football Players Get New Safety Equipment

  • Local Champion: Lander Junior Football League
  • Date Funded: March 17, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $12,200

Kids in Lander have recently shown an increased interest in playing football, and the Junior Football League now has nearly 100 kids between third and sixth grade who want to play. While the increased participation is giving children more recreational opportunities, the league did not have enough quality equipment—particularly helmets—to teach kids how to play football safely. Despite borrowing equipment from other communities, the league lacked resources to fill the gap. With a grant from the LOR Foundation, the league was able to purchase 12 new helmets, new jerseys, pants, and field markers.
