Free Community Programs Inspire Learning at the Weiser Public Library

  • Local Champion: Friends of the Weiser Public Library
  • Date Funded: March 7, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $10,850

Every week several residents ask staff at the Weiser Public Library for classes and activities that don’t exist in the city. Seniors ask for workshops that can help them learn how to use technology, while parents request classes that teach kids basic coding skills. To meet these requests and better serve the Weiser community, the director of the library reached out to LOR with the idea to launch a series of free programs, ranging from computer and art classes to movie nights and a youth summer reading program. LOR’s funding will help the library purchase 10 laptops, speakers for movie nights, and other supplies to get the programs off the ground. The year-round activities will make the library a hub for learning, while creating new opportunities for Weiser residents of all ages.
