Fitness and Kitchen Equipment Support Recovery for Monte Vista Residents

  • Local Champion: R3 Corp
  • Date Funded: June 24, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $17,459

Monte Vista residents represent about 25% of all patients at Hope in the Valley, the only addiction treatment center offering medically supervised detox and inpatient care in the San Luis Valley. While receiving substance use treatment, patients don’t have access to the equipment they need to enhance their physical and nutritional health during their recovery process. Staff at Hope in the Valley knew that physical fitness and nutrition were vital components of a complete recovery, so they reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help Hope in the Valley, a branch of R3 Corp, purchase kitchen equipment for cooking classes and nutritional education, along with fitness equipment including weights, cardio machines, and other recreational gear. The new equipment will support patients building healthy habits and resilience, helping them maintain their recovery after treatment.
