Enclosed Trailer Lightens the Load for Monte Vista Farmers Market Volunteers

  • Local Champion: Monte Vista Community Fund, Inc.
  • Date Funded: August 21, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $5,000

In the summer of 2023, it became necessary for Monte Vista’s seasonal Farmers Market to relocate from 1st Avenue to Chapman Park. As part of this move, market volunteers lost access to their longstanding (free) storage space and had to begin paying for a locker to store the organization’s tables, chairs, tents, and signage. The only source of income for the Farmer’s Market is the $10 booth fee paid by participating vendors, so the cost of the storage locker quickly became a financial strain. The new arrangement also created a number of physical and logistical challenges for the market’s limited volunteers. So they approached LOR with an idea: purchase an enclosed trailer to store and transport all their supplies, improving volunteer safety and efficiency.

LOR’s funding will enable the volunteers to purchase a 5’x10′ enclosed trailer to support this important community event for many market seasons to come.
