Coupon Books and Training Help Launch a New Taos Shop Local Effort

  • Local Champion: Taos County Chamber of Commerce
  • Date Funded: September 11, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $8,000

Taos local businesses and consumers continue to experience setbacks from COVID-19 impacts, disruption of the road construction projects, inflation, and workforce shortages that are having a negative impact on the local economy. Past “Shop Local” initiatives were met with limited success, so one local business owner came up with the idea to launch a coupon book that offers discounts to local consumers and incentivizes local spending at retail shops, restaurants, recreation sites, arts and culture organizations, etc. In addition, this new Experience Taos initiative will provide training to local businesses to help them make the most of the effort. LOR’s funding will support the creation of the coupon books, as well as marketing, advertising, and training.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Downtown Taos.
