Classroom Food Center Helps Meet the Needs of Taos High Schoolers

  • Local Champion: Taos Municipal Schools
  • Date Funded: September 30, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $1,800

Taos High School’s unique Emotional Quotient (EQ) Program provides mentoring to underclassmen and offers classes related to mental health and the impact of trauma on the brain. This year, students and staff involved in the program wanted to install a small food center in one of the EQ classrooms, to supply students in need with nutritious food, hygiene items, and school supplies, all free of charge, so they contacted LOR for help.

Funding from the LOR Foundation will cover the cost of kitchen equipment, including a refrigerator, a pantry, storage carts, and dishes, which students can also utilize during study groups and other small meetings and events throughout the academic year.
