Christmas Program Returns to Support Monte Vista Families in Need

  • Local Champion: A Monte Vista Local
  • Date Funded: November 24, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $5,300

Many Monte Vista families face financial hardships during the holiday season and struggle to afford Christmas gifts for their children. Years ago, one Monte Vista couple created Angels Among Us in memory of their beloved daughter, who was lost in a tragic accident. Angels Among Us quickly became a cherished part of the Christmas season in Monte Vista, providing gifts to families in need and hosting a community Christmas tree lighting where residents could honor loved ones who had passed. After the program paused during COVID, the couple had an idea to revive this meaningful tradition when they saw the growing financial struggles facing local families five years later.

LOR’s funding helped purchase an artificial tree, decorations, refreshments, wrapping supplies, and Christmas gifts for children, allowing the relaunched Angels Among Us program to serve at least 20 families during the 2025 holiday season. The restored program will bring healing, connection, and joy back to Monte Vista while ensuring children experience the magic of Christmas regardless of their caregivers’ financial challenges.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Optimystics Citizens Action Network.
