Care Packages Bring Holiday Cheer to Lonely Seniors in Monte Vista

  • Local Champion: A Monte Vista Local
  • Date Funded: December 6, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $2,400

Many Monte Vista nursing home residents do not receive regular support or visits from family, which can make the holidays an incredibly lonely time and negatively impact their well-being. So, a Monte Vista local reached out to LOR with an idea: launch an annual holiday care package program called “Gifts of Joy for Golden Hearts,” to foster a sense of community and spread cheer at the end of each year.

LOR’s funding will cover the cost of filling the 2024 holiday bags with cozy items, including throw blankets, non-slip socks, and cookies for seniors across the community.

This project is fiscally sponsored by the Optimystics Citizens Action Network.
