Bulking Up: Heavier Weights Help Lander’s Senior Citizens Stay Strong and Safe

  • Local Champion: Lander Senior Citizens Center
  • Date Funded: September 6, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $876

Weight training for senior citizens is linked to better balance and fewer falls. Good news: In Lander, Wyoming, many seniors are taking the free exercises classes offered at the the Lander Senior Center and getting stronger. Trouble is, they now don’t have enough weights heavy enough for the seniors to keep building strength and balance. So one weight class attendee reached out to LOR with the idea to solve the problem by helping the center purchase heavier weights. LOR’s funding will support the purchase of 21 pairs of weights and two additional weight racks.
