Locals Bring the Sound of Music Back To Lander’s Nursing Homes

  • Local Champion: Central Wyoming Brass Quintet
  • Date Funded: October 24, 2022
  • Grant Amount: $1,350

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit Lander, the elderly population living in nursing homes and long-term care facilities was largely cut off from the surrounding community. With few visitors allowed, those residents no longer enjoyed weekly activities—including onsite concerts from community members—which led to a lack of engagement and connection. Meanwhile, local musicians struggled to book gigs and had fewer venues to play. To address these issues, a well-known local musician had an idea to have the Central Wyoming Brass Quintet play concerts at two nursing homes in the fall of 2022, an effort that would bring joy to nursing home residents and musicians alike. LOR supported the initiative by providing funding for the musicians to play the gigs.

This project is fiscally sponsored by the Lander Community Foundation
