Basic Material Needs Support Rehabilitation Journeys in Taos

  • Local Champion: NM Wellness LLC
  • Date Funded: June 26, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $5,000

When the New Mexico Wellness Center opened in June 2023, it became Taos’ only residential alcohol and drug treatment center. The center’s on-site staff are committed to providing respectful and dignified 24-hour care but were struggling to meet the basic material needs of the many clients who enter the program after significant periods of homelessness or incarceration. So, a new employee reached out to LOR with a solution: provide clients with essential clothing and hygiene supplies at no cost, allowing them to focus on their recovery.

LOR’s funding will allow New Mexico Wellness Center staff to purchase basic hygiene kits and a variety of clothing in assorted sizes to be distributed to underresourced clients as they work to reclaim their lives.
