Abuse Seminars Connect Lander Locals to Critical Resources

  • Local Champion: Covenant Presbyterian Church
  • Date Funded: March 20, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

Whether at home, in the workplace, at church, or elsewhere, Lander residents can be vulnerable to abuse. However, they might not always recognize the signs or know the resources available to them, and one local resident set out to address that problem. The assistant pastor at Covenant Presbyterian Church had been a student of toxic leadership and abuse by people in power, and he brought forward an idea for creating a series of seminars to educate locals on the signs of abuse. With help from LOR, the church was able to hire two subject matter experts to lead workshops and to jumpstart ongoing, community-wide conversations about abuse and available resources.
