A Taos Tutoring Program Creates Career Pathways While Supporting Students

  • Local Champion: Embudo Valley Tutoring Association
  • Date Funded: March 10, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $9,874

Many Taos residents interested in careers in education lack hands-on opportunities to explore potential paths, while local students need additional academic support beyond the classroom. Recognizing these parallel needs, staff with the Embudo Valley Tutoring Association developed an innovative mentorship program to address both challenges. In need of support, they reached out to LOR. LOR’s funding will help the Embudo Valley Tutoring Association hire certified educators to train interested residents as tutors, providing them with professional development, biweekly guidance, and placements at local schools. The program will support meaningful career exploration for potential educators who will in turn offer free, high-quality tutoring services to Taos students who need academic support.
