3D Printers and Plasma Cutters Create a Modern Manufacturing Space at Taos High School

  • Local Champion: Taos High School
  • Date Funded: March 26, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $30,000

Students at Taos High School lacked hands-on learning opportunities to connect classroom concepts with real-world applications in manufacturing and engineering. After identifying this gap, Taos High School’s AP physics teacher worked with students to come up with a solution. Their idea? Establish a modern manufacturing makerspace. LOR’s funding helped purchase waterjet cutters, 3D printers, a plasma cutter, and other essential equipment for the new space, where students will develop technical skills, explore career pathways, and collaborate with local businesses on community projects.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Taos High School Parent Teacher Student Organization.
