A Simple Solution: New Supplies Improve Learning for Libby’s High-Risk Students

  • Local Champion: Libby K-12 Schools
  • Date Funded: February 16, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

Roughly 30% of the students at Libby Central School are homeless. For many students, the Central School, Libby’s alternative high school, offers relief from difficult living situations and the stresses of daily life. Yet, with an annual budget of just $4,000, the school lacks the funding it needs to create a structured and supportive learning environment for Libby’s high-risk students. One educator reached out to the LOR Foundation with an idea to revamp the Central School with much needed supplies, improving the opportunities for students. LOR’s funding will help the school purchase new computers, tables, storage bins, shelving units, and chairs, allowing the Central School’s students to focus on their futures instead of moving tables and chairs from classroom to classroom.
