Improvised tables were taking a toll on volunteers with the Libby Food Pantry. A small solution is helping them continue to serve the community. Read more
Volunteers with David Thompson Search and Rescue had been struggling to find equipment to fill the gap between their trucks and packing in equipment and searching areas by foot, a problem the group's new UTV is helping to solve.
Libby sits in the heart of northwest Montana surrounded by mountains that have long captured imaginations and drawn people to the area. For many locals, the natural beauty is what makes Libby home. But it can also pose a challenge in the unfortunate circumstance that someone gets lost or injured. Miles of rough terrain make it difficult for volunteers with David Thompson Search and Rescue to quickly locate, access, and evacuate people. Volunteers frequently spend multiple days looking for people lost in the woods—a problem when time is of the essence. The group’s volunteers came up with a solution to help them improve their response time and quickly locate and evacuate the lost or injured: a Can-Am Defender UTV. “Having this equipment is very important to us,” says Jon Obst, the president of David Thompson Search and Rescue. “And it’s really extended the safety that we can provide the people of Libby.” Check out the video below to discover how David Thompson Search and Rescue is keeping locals and visitors safe with LOR’s support.
