Lander Creatives Connect Local Businesses to Freelancers

  • Local Champion: The Working End
  • Date Funded: August 30, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $4,500

Within Lander’s gig economy, the pandemic exacerbated an existing problem: freelancers struggling to connect with potential clients, and there was no established model for how to put these disparate parties in touch. With this problem in mind, two local creatives came to LOR with a solution they’d seen work in other rural communities: With funding from LOR they launched The Working End, a one-stop collective of local freelancers open for business. Now, as the economy ramps back up, The Working End is becoming a sustainable and visible “matchmaking” service for Lander’s creative industry workers and the local businesses who rely on them.
