Holiday Meal Boxes Help Address Food Insecurity Among Monte Vista Families

  • Local Champion: SLV Community Solutions
  • Date Funded: December 13, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $5,000

Many Monte Vista families experience increased food insecurity during the holiday season due to added financial pressures, including higher utility bills and childcare costs and the loss of free or reduced-cost school meals for their children over winter break. So, an employee at SLV Community Solutions reached out to LOR with an idea: launch an annual holiday meal box program to support struggling families.

With support from the LOR Foundation, SLV Community Solutions will purchase food for 200 meal boxes, including seasonal items such as ham, canned vegetables, boxed stuffing, instant mashed potatoes, and gravy.
