Digital Platform Connects Taos Students to STEAM Opportunities

  • Local Champion: STEMarts Lab
  • Date Funded: September 17, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $22,970

In Taos, students sometimes miss STEAM learning opportunities, certifications, and mentorship due to geographic distances and the challenge of coordinating across multiple communication channels. With much coordination happening through WhatsApp, it can be difficult to track progress and ensure important information reaches everyone consistently.

To help strengthen these connections, the Executive Director of STEMarts Lab proposed the Digital Bridge—a centralized platform that would bring together courses, certifications, mentorship, and paid opportunities in one organized space.

With support from LOR, STEMarts Lab will hire instructors, a curriculum developer, and a platform developer to build the system using Notion as the foundation. Designed with a visual interface and offline access capabilities, the platform will support participation regardless of internet access. Students will be able to build professional portfolios, connect with mentors, and explore paid opportunities, while local partners can share openings and engage with emerging talent—creating a sustainable pipeline that helps keep youth connected and engaged in their community
