When it comes to meeting challenges, Questa locals don't wait for help for come. They simply get to work.

Local families who trace their Questa roots back four centuries have withstood everything from wildfires to the economic turmoil of Chevron shuttering its mine in 2014. Through it all, residents here have met each challenge with an indomitable community spirit born of centuries of generational grit. You can see that legacy reflected in the more than 230 projects locals have led with support from LOR since 2023. From developing innovative solutions for addressing food insecurity to launching initiatives to support entrepreneurs and workforce development, Questeños bring creativity and a home-grown sense of can-do to every community project. Today Questa’s resilient residents are turning their attention to things like preserving the area’s agricultural history while expanding economic opportunities for youth, particularly in the growing outdoor recreation and tourism sector. And Questa born and raised community officer Maria Gonzalez is excited to keep the resilience going by helping locals turn even more great ideas into action.
