Funding Opportunities

August Deadlines

The Lois Lenski Covey Foundation offers grants ranging from $500 to $3,000 to support bookmobile programs that provide quality books to disadvantaged children in preschool through grade 8. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, public libraries, and schools that operate lending bookmobiles serving economically or socially at-risk youth with limited book budgets. Funding must be used exclusively for book purchases; grants may not be used for general school or library collections, administrative expenses, or operational costs.

The Perigee Fund is launching Families at the HEART, a $2.55 million initiative that will award up to six organizations $425,000 each to expand community-rooted mental health models supporting families during pregnancy and early childhood. Funding is intended for therapeutic and somatic approaches that center the experiences of historically marginalized families, especially BIPOC communities. Eligible applicants include organizations rooted in community, advancing healing-centered care, and holding a bold vision for systems change. Grantees will also join a national learning cohort focused on transformative, healing-informed systems change.

September Deadlines and Beyond

The RedRover Relief program offers grants of up to $60,000 to support animals in crisis and help domestic violence survivors and their pets stay together. Funding includes urgent care grants (around $250) for pet owners facing financial hardship, safe escape grants for domestic violence survivors needing temporary pet boarding, and safe housing grants of up to $60,000 for organizations developing pet-friendly spaces at domestic violence shelters or homeless services facilities.

The Polaris TRAILS GRANTS Program offers grants and product donations of up to $10,000 annually to support off-road trail access, safety, and stewardship. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations and local governments in the U.S. and Canada working on trail development, maintenance, rider safety, education, or expanding off-road and snowmobile access. Funding may be requested as monetary support or in the form of product donations.

The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts offers grants ranging from $50,000 to $100,000 to support artists through curatorial research, exhibitions, and multiyear programming. Eligible organizations may apply for curatorial research fellowships (up to $50,000), exhibition support ($60,000–$100,000), or multiyear program grants ($60,000–$100,000). The foundation awards approximately 100 grants annually to nonprofits that support artists at all stages of the creative process.

The Bolger Foundation offers grants ranging from $10,000 to $250,000 to nonprofits for capital projects that strengthen community impact. Funding supports one-time physical needs such as construction, building improvements, capital equipment, and furnishings. Priority areas include conservation, health, education, underserved populations, and community-building, especially through projects that promote outdoor activity and long-term well-being.

The Toshiba America Foundation offers grants of up to $5,000 to K–12 teachers to support innovative STEM education in public and nonprofit private schools.
Kindergarten through fifth-grade teachers may apply for up to $1,000 to make STEM learning engaging and fun, while sixth through 12th-grade teachers may request up to $5,000 to implement creative, hands-on STEM projects.
Deadlines: September 1 or November 1 (grades 6–12); October 1 (grades K–5)

The Robert Lehman Foundation offers grants ranging from $500 to $50,000 to support visual arts initiatives through museums, educational institutions, and nonprofit cultural organizations. Funding is available for museum exhibitions, art education programs, scholarly publications, and lectureships. Priority is given to projects that expand access to visual arts education in underserved communities where arts opportunities are limited or lacking.

The J.W. Couch Foundation is accepting unsolicited grant applications through September 26, 2025, to support U.S. nonprofits in the areas of preservation, education, and wellness. For 2025, funding priorities include animal well-being, early childhood education, support for teachers, and organizations that encourage outdoor activities to promote healthier communities. Eligible applicants must be U.S.-based nonprofits working within one or more of the foundation’s focus areas.

The Milk House and Daily Yonder’s Best in Rural Writing Contest is awarding up to $500 for original, unpublished fiction or nonfiction that highlights rural life. Writers may submit one entry of 6,000 words or fewer. The contest offers a $500 first prize and a $200 runner-up award. Submissions must be original and previously unpublished.

T‑Mobile’s Hometown Grant Program offers up to $50,000 to support community development projects in small towns with populations of 50,000 or fewer. In partnership with Main Street America, the program funds up to 100 projects per year to help revitalize public spaces—such as updating library technology, restoring parks, building trails, or improving gathering places. Main Street programs and local leaders are encouraged to apply with proposals that strengthen community connection and infrastructure.

The Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust awards grants to nonprofits that serve sick and injured veterans and their families. Funded programs may include access to quality healthcare, support for veterans experiencing PTSD, traumatic brain injury, military sexual trauma, or substance abuse; mobility and rehabilitation assistance, and initiatives that assess and address the unique needs of veterans from different eras of military service. All applicants must be operational and recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as tax-exempt.

The D’Addario Foundation offers multiple grant opportunities for up to $2,500 to nonprofits providing free or affordable music instruction to underserved communities. Annual support is available through three programs: Immersive Music Challenge Ecosystem Grants (two-year awards by invitation only for intensive, wraparound instruction), Community Music Grants (one- or two-year awards for programs offering 3+ hours/week with a focus on outreach), and In-Kind Grants (support for programs offering at least 2 hours/week, including those that repair or donate instruments).

The American Heart Association’s Social Impact Funds provide grants and loans to for-profit and nonprofit organizations addressing the social drivers of health in the U.S. Funding supports evidence-based projects that improve healthcare access and quality, food security, and economic empowerment. Current opportunities include general project funding, food security initiatives, and targeted efforts to reduce isolation among older adults and support caregivers.

The Brooks and Joan Fortune Family Foundation supports art, education, and outreach programs with grants typically between $1,000 and $10,000 to nonprofit organizations. Eligible applicants include nonprofit programs that extend the impact of arts and arts education and promote the arts in schools.

The GoWest Foundation offers grants of up to $100,000 to help credit unions expand access to financial services in rural communities. Funding is available for planning (up to $20,000) or implementation (up to $100,000) of community-driven initiatives such as mobile branches, financial education, and innovative products tailored to underserved rural areas. Individual credit unions and collaborative projects are eligible. Grants support feasibility studies, product development, and pilot programs that improve financial inclusion and economic opportunity.

The Easton Foundations offer multiple grant opportunities to support archery participation and program development across the U.S. Available funding includes Big Impact Grants for large-scale or transformative projects, Equipment Grants of up to $500 to launch or expand archery programs, and Operational Grants for ongoing program costs. Funding is open to programs that support archers at all levels—from first-time participants to elite competitors.

The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation awards grants ranging from $1,000 to $900,000 through its Sports Matter program. Eligible applicants include nonprofits and public or charter schools serving youth in areas with at least a 15% poverty rate or where 40% or more of students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Funding supports youth sports participation costs such as equipment, fees, and infrastructure.

The Quest for Rural Experience Scholarship offers $3,000 to Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant/Associate students completing clinical rotations at Rural Health Clinics. Funded by the NARHC Research and Education Foundation, the scholarship helps cover housing, transportation, and other educational expenses during rural clinical placements. The program aims to reduce barriers to rural training and support the growing role of NPs and PAs in addressing physician shortages.

The Albertsons Companies Foundation’s Nourishing Neighbors Innovation Incubation Fund is accepting grant proposals from nonprofits with new ideas to end hunger. Funding is intended for programs that can create lasting freedom from food assistance programs; grants can be for $50,000 or more.

State-Specific Funding Opportunities

Colorado The Boettcher Foundation offers Community Connections and Rural Catalyst Grants to support Colorado-based nonprofits with strategic projects and capacity-building efforts.

Community Connections grants ($20,000–$75,000) fund capital projects or key program investments that foster community engagement. Rural Catalyst Grants ($1,000–$10,000) help strengthen nonprofit infrastructure in rural areas, with priority given to initiatives focused on housing, childcare, mental health, workforce development, regional collaboration, and leadership diversity.

Idaho The Rural Health Care Access Program Grant provides funding up to $35,000 to improve access to medical and dental care in areas designated as health professional shortage areas or medically underserved areas. Applicants may submit grant proposals that improve access to primary care and/or dental health services in any of the three assistance categories of community development, telehealth, and other (such as recruitment and retention).

Idaho The Idaho Gem Grant Program offers up to $50,000 for rural communities to plan and implement economic development projects. Idaho Gem Grants are focused on job creation and retention. Grants may be awarded to eligible communities for the purpose of developing assets directly connected to private-sector job creation. Eligible applicants include any rural community with a population of 10,000 persons or fewer and must be submitted by a city, county, or tribal government.

New Mexico The Nusenda Foundation’s Community Rewards Grant supports organizations helping New Mexicans and West Texans thrive through community-based initiatives. Eligible applicants must demonstrate how requested resources will be strategically invested and leveraged for impact. Proposals are evaluated based on alignment with Nusenda’s focus areas and values, organizational performance, financial health, and track record of successful program implementation.

New Mexico New Mexico’s Outdoor Recreation Trails+ Grant will award up to $7.2 million in FY26 to support shovel-ready projects that expand outdoor access and improve trail infrastructure. Eligible applicants include tribes, pueblos, and nations; municipalities; counties; nonprofits (Tier 2 only); public schools and universities; soil and water conservation districts; and acequia and land grant associations. Funding supports projects such as trail design and construction, river access, signage, outdoor classrooms, picnic shelters, and wildlife viewing areas. All projects must be open to the public. The program aims to strengthen local economies, promote environmental stewardship, and enhance quality of life by connecting communities to nature.

Resources

AgriSafe Nurse Scholar Program: a free, self-paced online course that provides continuing education for nurses on the unique health and safety challenges faced by agricultural workers and their families. Designed for nurses in rural and agricultural communities, the course equips participants with practical tools to support farmworker health.

HRSA Healthy Grants Workshop: a free virtual training series designed to help grant recipients successfully manage their federal funding. Registration is open for sessions in June, July, and August 2025. Participants may attend as many sessions as they like at no cost. The workshop series also includes an archive of past recordings.
