Our Community Thrives When We Work Together
Every town is unique. Explore how the LOR Foundation continues to partner with the community in San Luis Valley, Colorado, to improve the quality of life.
“Working with LOR has been a really unique experience, mainly because I feel like they really
honored the community will for this open space area as opposed to coming in and sharing the
ideas that they had for our community. They wanted to hear what the community wanted
to do for itself to create this livable, open space that was a real asset to the community.”
– Liza Marron
Executive Director, San Luis Valley Local Food Coalition
EXPLORE San Luis Valley Projects
With efforts like the San Luis Valley Conservation and Connection Initiative, LOR works with communities along the Rio Grande and throughout the San Luis Valley to help residents develop a vision for their future and improve quality of life. LOR has supported organizations like the Rio Grande Farm Park, Colorado Open Lands, Rio Grande Headwaters Land Trust and others that are working to:
- Build water resiliency by protecting acequia systems, agricultural lands, and forested watersheds
- Expand walking and biking trails that connect towns to the river and to each other—and increase access
to outdoor recreation
- Create the Rio Grande Farm Park, the first local foods and farm park of its kind
- Support nonprofit capacity and leadership
