Rio Grande Water Fund

Water is a resource that ties communities together all across northern New Mexico – an area that has seen a decade’s long drought diminish aquifers, degrade local watersheds, and escalate the effects of catastrophic forest fires. The Rio Grande Water fund was created to help invest in the long term restoration of the area’s forested lands and watersheds, with the goal of creating sustainable funding for the work needed to protect clean water for both local communities and larger cites downstream. The LOR Foundation is partnering with more than 40 organizations and agencies to help fund the creation of community-driven, landscape-scale restoration plans.
